On Wednesday evening of the 24th July 2024 East Mayo Anglers Association (EMAA) had their 3rd annual children’s event at the fishery’s lower car park and disabled facility in Straide Co Mayo. The event was a huge success, helped by the weather of course and by the 74 registered children and accompanying parents who made the effort to come along on the evening.

The committee of EMAA would like to express our gratitude to all those individuals and organizations who helped in making the evening such a success.

Our gratitude is extended to the following people and organizations, in no particular order.
• Barry Kelly and Inland Fisheries Ireland (IFI) – Provision of tackle, reading material and ‘Goodie Bags’ .
• Dr Bryan Kennedy – Fresh Water Biologist -Display and talk on life under the water.
• Cian O’Boyle – Fly tying tuition stand and instruction.
• Tommy Marren (Mid-West Radio) – advertising and promotion.
• Katheen Ward – preparing literature, name tags, general coordination of event
• Gary Smyth – Provision and service of hot food and drinks on the night.

• Jim Kavanagh Water Keeper – Carparking and directing of traffic.
• Liam Healy – Assisting with pre-event parking
• John McHugh, local farmer – provision of field for parking.

• All club members and friends who donated fishing tackle for raffle.

Lastly, our greatest thanks is to all you young boys and girls and your parent/guardians who without whom the event would never get off the ground. You made it the success it was.
